This coming weekend I’ll be making an appearance (or several) at Ad Astra,Toronto’s biggest (and funnest, and weirdest) sci-fi/fantasy convention. If you’ve ever wanted to know what wizards wear under their cloaks, this is the place to find out.
What kind of event is this? Well, last year, after spending hours perusing the book/dealer’s room, listening to some of the greats in science fiction talk about their work, and appearing on one of several YA lit panels, I walked into the elevator…to find myself surrounded by three Klingons of various sizes.
Instead of hacking me to pieces with their bat’leth (double-sided scimitar) the Klingon crew invited me to their very exclusive Klingon Keg party across the street. Last year I demurred their invitation.
This year, I might just take them up on it. Heghlu’meH QaQ jajvam !!
I’ll post a schedule of the panels I’ll be on this year as soon as I have it. In the meantime, I invite you all to attend the sumptuous, imaginative feast that is Ad Astra. Come say hi. I’m signing copies of True Storm and handing out swag.
As the Klingons say, Qapla’ !!
And here is this weekend’s schedule, if you happen to be out and about in the GTA and looking for something fun to do:
Thank you to Wired Magazine for providing humanity with a vital Klingon-English phrasebook, perfect for the Ad Astra tourist.
